Two things of note happened yesterday: I ran for 9Km straight for the first time and it snowed in London. Once again my Saturday was all about the long run, having a good breakfast an hour and a half before, taking on bit of sports drink during the run, and having a recovery shake swiftly followed by lunch afterwards. It was really cold out and I was glad my husband came with me as I wasn’t really in the mood. I was just starting to warm up and get into my stride when I came down the wrong way on some uneven pavement and twisted my bad knee. I managed to work it out and run on the knee, but the next km after that was not fun. So I have to say the best part of that run was making hot chocolate with my chocolate Recovery Shake and skim milk when I got home!
The second best part was a bath after lunch to try and warm up completely, which contributed to the nap which followed. Then my husband suggested we open the bottle of champagne after dinner, which was been in our fridge since our wedding anniversary three weeks ago. This led to a quick trip to the grocery store for suitable accompaniments such as strawberries and champagne chocolates. So we spent the evening on the couch together, drinking champagne and watching the snow fall.
In many ways, it was the run in the first part of the day which allowed me to thoroughly enjoy the champagne and chocolates in the second!
