Keeping the calories up

I admit that my calorie and nutrient counts for yesterday are pretty much guesses. One of the downsides of doing this food diary is the lack of nutritional information available when I eat out. Most chain restaurants do list the nutritional information on their websites but for some reason La Tasca is not one of them (neither do Carluccio’s - both of these are good places for the gluten free diner as gluten free dishes are clearly marked on their menus and they do have a decent selection). In fact, I can’t think why La Tasca would be reluctant to publish such information, as by my estimation my lunch yesterday was less than 550 calories, with plenty of vegetables and lean protein. But maybe my estimation is way off and should they publish the information I would discover its really 800 calories and 40g of fat. Once again, never underestimate restaurant calories!

Of course the real problem yesterday was in the evening. I ended up forgetting to pack an afternoon snack and was in a mostly residential area with no shops (and knew I wouldn’t be home until at least 7:00pm), which is how I ended up grabbing some M&M’s at the only newsagents I could find. Then my husband and I were both too tired to cook so I had left-over prawn stir fry and lentils – very healthy. Him? He ordered pizza. And it smelled wonderful and just made me crave the same, even though I’d already eaten. Cue the after dinner chocolates and cookies!

So once again, thank goodness I went for a run yesterday morning!
