Christmas Party Excesses

I know it is the season to overindulge, but I think I might have over-overindulged last night. I was at a Christmas party at a very nice bar/restaurant with my former work colleagues and superiors, where the company was paying and everyone was in a very festive mood. Now over the last four months of this diary I think I’ve only ever had 3 drinks in one evening. However, yesterday I managed to get down 7 drinks over the course of four hours! And very merry I was feeling with it too!

This was accompanied by a very good dinner, with the most velvety of butternut squash and truffle oil soups, a turkey dinner, and a lovely Christmas spiced panna cotta with pears slices poached in red wine. While I can’t be certain of the exact counts, my best guess is that this dinner had at least 875 calories. Added to the 890 plus calories from alcohol and it was no surprise I reached a new record calorie count of 3379 calories in one day. Not to mention being the most unbalanced of nutrient days, with almost 20% of my calories from alcohol and only 15% from protein.

Clearly I don’t do this very often so I’m not too bothered, though the way I was feeling this morning reminded me of why I don’t do this more often.
