Christmas Week in Review

What a wonderfully fun food week! Cookies, chocolates, candied almonds, various alcoholic drinks and a Christmas party Christmas dinner. For the sake of my waistline, I really hope it doesn’t happen again anytime soon, but sometimes it is fun not just to enjoy food, but to see just how many calories you can cram into one day. Though I think the honour of highest calorie day of the year will probably fall on Christmas day tomorrow. Week twelve certainly has the honour of being the worst diet week of the year, but then I’d be disappointed if the week before Christmas was anything but calorie and fat laden!

So just for the record, I averaged 2500 calories per day and less than 150 calories burned per day this week. The nutrient balance was only 17% protein, 50% carbohydrates, 29% fat and over 4% alcohol, which actually isn’t that bad. The protein count is way below the target 25% but I thought the percentage of fat would be much higher given that I had over 30% fat 5 days this week. And I did do much better this week at getting enough protein, fibre and fruits and vegetables.

Merry Christmas all and enjoy the foods of the season!
