The Benefits of Shopping

I meant to go to the gym yesterday but it was very dark and rainy so I really wasn’t in the mood. So I went Christmas shopping instead, which went really well for once. It was much busier than I thought it would be (I forgot all the kids are off school and teenagers to world over do seem to flock to malls), but I managed to find all the gifts I wanted relatively easily. And one of the advantages of the recession is that most of the stores have started their sales early, so I even found everything at prices I could afford. Not to mention finding a couple of items for myself (beautiful turtlenecks at only £15 each!). Despite the extra Christmas treats over the past couple of weeks my clothes have been fitting better and yesterday I discovered I am now an XS in tops and a near perfect UK size 10 in trousers (US size 6). Now that did improve my mood!

I was out and about for lunch so I took the easy way out and just had sushi. It wasn’t bad but there are days when I really wish I could have a burger in the food court like everyone else. I did have the sense to stop for tea when I was getting tired at 2:30pm (I must have walked for over 4 hours yesterday) but I forgot to eat the snack bar I packed, so by the time I got home at 5:00pm I was ravenous. Cue munching on chocolates on the couch for the next two hours! However, I did much better at getting enough nutritious food yesterday and just adding the treats, so it’s not all bad.

Hopefully I will make it to the gym today though!
