Since I have been back home and back to my usual routine, my diet has been pretty good. Lots of fruit and veg, plenty of healthy snacks, few junk food treats, and no fast food or take aways. I have averaged a calorie intake of 1875 over the past five days without too much trouble, so dropping below 1800 per day next week should be relatively easy. The harder part will be getting the balance right, particularly upping my protein intake without upping the fat at the same time. So in addition to keeping the calories below 1800, my goal this week is to have lean animal or fish protein at every meal and some protein of any kind with my snacks.
By the way, you’ll notice that yesterday I was eating pies at 7pm and didn’t get supper until almost 9pm. This is because my husband was in charge of dinner. Now don’t get me wrong; he’s an excellent chef, much more likely to experiment with new and complicated recipes than I am, and he has a great sense of how to season and cook food for best effect. However, all this takes time and it never seems to occur to him to start cooking before 7pm. Hence, whenever my man cooks, I can look forward to great food . . . at 9 o’clock at night.
